The 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Last updated on:

In addition to the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit, the Bible also tells us that there are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit.

For the record, we feel that the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit are much more important than the 9 gifts are.

As the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit have to do with God imparting part of His divine nature into the core of our personalities to help make us into a much better and holy people.

God’s ultimate aim for all of us is our sanctification in Him, and part of that sanctification process has to do with the Holy Spirit Himself transmitting 9 specific divine qualities and attributes into our personalities.

But if the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit are the cake, then the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit are the icing on the cake.

Put these two together, and allow God to work with a believer with both sets of these 9 fruits and 9 gifts.

And you will have one mighty sanctified soldier of Jesus Christ, as the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit will give you some serious heavy ammunition to have at your disposal as you walk with God’s anointing in your daily life.

I call the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit torpedo gifts, as the Holy Spirit can manifest any one of these 9 gifts through any believer anytime that He will want to do so.

Each one of these gifts are major power gifts, and they are all direct, supernatural, miraculous manifestations direct from the Holy Spirit Himself.

And any Christian can get themselves in proper place to receive these 9 gifts, as the apostle Paul himself tells us not to be afraid to try and stir up these 9 specific gifts with the Lord.

Here is the direct verse from our Bible on the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit:

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

Now I will number and bold each one of these 9 gifts of the Spirit so you can have all of them right at the top of this article at a very quick glance:

Not only does the Bible tell us that these 9 gifts of the Spirit are available to all believers, but then it takes it one step further and tells us that we can actually try and stir these 9 gifts up with the Lord.

Here are 5 very good verses telling us to not only desire spiritual gifts, but to also not be afraid to try and stir these gifts up with the Lord:

1. “Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:39)

2. “… and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:1)

3. “Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophecies.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

4. “Do not neglect the gift that is in you … Meditate on these things, give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” (1 Timothy 4:14)

5. “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” (2 Timothy 1:6)

As such, every believer should go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to release these 9 gifts through them anytime that He will want to do so.

Let God know that you will be a willing vessel for the manifestations of these gifts, and that you will give Him a full and solid green light to manifest these gifts though you at anytime that He will want to do so.

These 9 gifts are a tremendous help and aid to not only you in your own personal walk with the Lord, but many of them can be also used to help other people out as special needs and circumstances arise in their lives.

Notice the very first line in this verse says that these 9 gifts are given to each one for the “profit of all.”

I will go ahead and break down each one of these 9 gifts of the Spirit into their own article so you can click on the link to read each one.  And then come back and read my conclusion.

As you reach each of the gifts  you can see exactly what each one of these 9 gifts are all about, and how important they can become in your life if you will only allow the Holy Spirit to manifest them through you at anytime that He will want to do so.

Conclusion

Just stop and think about what all 9 of these gifts from the Holy Spirit are really about. We are talking about God Almighty Himself coming down and manifesting a part of Himself through these 9 gifts, since God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are perfectly one with one another in the Divine Trinity.

This is what I call push-the-envelope kind of activity with the Lord. With every single one of these 9 gifts being direct, miraculous manifestations from the Holy Spirit, you are attempting to tread into deeper waters with the Lord. And that is exactly what God is asking all of us to do with these 9 special gifts.

When the apostle Paul, who I believe was the greatest of all of the New Testament apostles, tells us to “desire earnestly” these spiritual gifts and not to be afraid to try and stir these gifts up with the Lord, then you know God the Father is giving all us a big, fat, whopper green light to come after these 9 specific gifts.

Just think how many more people you can help and save if you will allow the Holy Spirit to manifest some of these 9 gifts through you from time to time.

Each one of these 9 gifts are major power gifts, and most of them are allowing the Lord to come in and manifest Himself to help someone else out.

Though Jesus is in heaven right now with His Father, we all still have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. And through the Holy Spirit, both God the Father and Jesus Christ can still manifest Themselves into our daily lives and any situations that we will need Their help on.

God and Jesus are still in the rescue, help, and deliverance business – and if you will allow God to manifest these 9 gifts through you from time to time, you yourself can become an actual partaker in some of Their divine, rescue, deliverance missions.

You yourself can help carry on the divine supernatural ministry that Jesus left behind when He ascended to His Father.

Per the new article we just put up, “The Great Commission – Save, Heal, Deliver and Disciple,” these 9 special power gifts will really help you in being to able save, heal, deliver, and disciple other people in this life.

I call these torpedo gifts, because they are like bullets loaded in a gun, ready to shoot out of you at anytime under the control and direction of the Holy Spirit. These 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit are the ammunition you will need to go to war for the Lord to help set the captives free, as the Bible is telling all of us to learn how to become good soldiers of Jesus Christ.

Combine these 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit with the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit so God can transform and mold you into the kind of person He wants you to become in Him, and you will then become a truly sanctified, fully-loaded, God-warrior like King David and Joshua were.

Then you will be ready to take on the real Goliaths of this world with absolutely no fear, since you know now that you have the power of the Holy Spirit Himself on the inside of you.

Then along with these 9 special powerful gifts of the Spirit that can be manifested through you at anytime to help either yourself or any other people as different needs will arise in their lives.

  1. Hi believers, the gifts of the holy spirit and the fruits of the holy Spirit are just like the components of human body or computer, or should I say the teeth and tongue in our mouth, one can do without the other in the life of a true believer, as a believer the gift of knowledge will help you to know that you have a responsibility to love your neighbor as your self, and you have to be kind to people. just like the way the good samerant did. the gift of wisdom will help you to handle issues in every aspect of life as a believer which help to bring out the meekness in the life of a believer just as CHRIST did when HE was on Earth with man kind. my dear believers we have to understand that this two are brothers and sisters. one can not be in life of a believer or Christian without the other. if you have one of gifts of the holy spirit, you must have the fruits of the holy Spirit in you as a true believer or Christian.

  2. I believe God has gifts given to all his children on earth just pray and have faith knowing God is working on you that is why we are different we need to compliment each other and help one another If we allow God to use us helping ourselves and others. Let’s be vessels of doing the Lords work

  3. Mark I totally disagree with you.. the author of this article is right the Fruits of the Spirit is the cake why i believe so is because the Fruits of the Holy spirit is what will qualify us to enter Heaven not the gifts.. You can have all the gifts but without the Fruits you can’t qualify for Heaven… the Fruits of the Spirit represents God Himself they are the character of God and that’s what is more important am not saying the Gifts are not important they are equally important but i believe is the icing of the cake.

    • I believe that the Lord blesses all of us in his own way .. I have seen a friend speak the tounges when I was a teenager at a Church Camp.. it freaked me out at first then I asked a lady I wanted to do it also..She gave me a prayer to repeat over and over.. Never happened.. so as a adult I have learned God has plans designed especially for each and every one of us… We all experience only what God wants the Holy Spirit to do for ourselves ❤ So I believe that we all do not experience all 9 gifts..we have what gift God wants us to do for him. Amen

  4. I don’t desire the gift on tongues for selfish reasons. I never wanted this gift and have never seen it in person. I’ve seen videos of people doing it but it seems fake in said context.
However, I have been watching testimonies of salvation on YTube for a good year now and its a VERY common experience for people to be |baptized in the Holy Spirit| and to then speak in tongues. Sometimes it is at church, sometimes small group, sometimes when that person is alone with God.
So, I don’t seek it for power or prestige but I do wonder why it happens to so many people but not me.
And yes, I believe I am walking with The Lord, though I want to know Him more. I assume all believers do too.

    • Hi Chris, I would advice studying and meditating on 1 Corinthians 14, Acts 2, Acts 19, Mark 16. Also Jude 1:20. Jude 1:20 ( and the amplified version gives great insight). You may be wondering why not you, but the gifts on the spirit have to be stirred up. They also have to be desired and even coveted. I pray that thr Holy spirit reveals these truths in you.

      God bless and keep you

  5. To say the FRUITS of the spirit are greater than the GIFTS of the spirit, or to compare the FRUITS to cake and the GIFTS to icing on the cake strongly suggests that you don’t understand what you’re talking about.
The FRUITS of the Spirit are what is produced in our lives through the process of sanctification. These comes through living obediently to the Spirit.
The GIFTS of the Spirit are the specific amplified abilities in each Christian that enable us to do the specific mission that God has planned for each of us. His “intentional will”; that is, the personal mission He intended for each of us specifically to perform. The gifts inable each of us to obey His specific orders for us with supernatural power.
Since the Gifts are for us to carry out His individual will for us, exercising you spiritual gift is required for obedience.
The Fruits is the Spirit come FROM our exercising our spiritual gifts—our obedience to God. Without exercising your spiritual gift, you cannot fully obey God. Without obedience, you will not produce the Fruits of the Spirit.
Does the frosting come before the cake? No. So, your analogy is backward at best. A better analogy is that the GIFTS of the Spirit are your farming tools that enable you to cultivate the tree—a thing you could not do with simply your bare hands (that is, under your own power without the tools). While the FRUITS of the spirit are what the tree produces by you cultivating it through obedience to wise farming practices (that is obedience to the Holy Spirit).
What is TRULY ANAZING is to realize that ALL the spiritual gifts were in Jesus Christ and He exercised them all FULLY! As it says, “ALL the fullness of the Godhead dwelt in Him bodily”. Then we see that Christ broke Himself into pieces and gave a piece to each of us! That is why it says, we are all members of the same body (Christ), but we are not all the same member! Beautiful! The church, that is the body of Christ, is not complete without all of us working together and we cannot full do that without loving each other and obeying the Holy Spirit. When we each learn how to recognize and accept our own spiritual gift and the gifts in others, and to make room for the exercise of those gifts without passing critical judgement on each other, the Body can then yield much more Fruit in each of us. This is why it says that when someone is off, you who ARE SPIRITUAL restore such a one. We are NOT to be judgemental and critical of each other, but to STUDY and LEARN and UNDERSTAND our own spiritual gift and the gifts in those around us. It’s lovely! The church is the “bride of Christ” but beyond that we are His BODY—just as the scriptures speak of a husband and wife becoming “one flesh” we are one spirit with Christ. All these things are things that the apostle Paul has already writtten to you.

    • I think a reason why people interpet it like this is because Paul explains ” these three remain, faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love.” All scriptures is inspired by God, and what Paul wrote and witness to also Jesus, people not only read, but study this in great detail. The apostles made known to us that everything Paul writes about is written in wisdom and for considering. We have to keep everything in perspective, Jesus is love and of everything He already gave, forgiveness through the Lamb is the first gift we receive, not through our own works or understanding but through mercy and grace.

    • Very good analogy… could be tools or could be ingredients to make a cake. a cake is a byproduct of many ingredients. Cake is a result or a fruit of all ingredients plus labour combined together. So the gifts of the Holy Spirit not only limited to the icing of the cake but rather of all ingredients in making a cake.

    • Your explanation also suggest that you too don’t understand. I’m sure if you’ve read 1 Corinthians 13. You would have understood the write ups. There’s no where the writer mentioned that the gifts are not important. He only used the ‘icing and the cake’ illustration to explain how more important the fruits are.
Consider this : the fruits of the Spirit is a must for every Christian ( you should be able to exhibit all as an individual) , but not everybody possess the gift of the Spirit) . Which is why you also need to understand the writings of Paul in 1Corinthians 14, especially verses 5 and 6.
      Study more.

      • Your comparison of cake n icing is so shallow, I think it’s much deeper than that, to me they are two different aspects, one is gifts the other fruits . Fruits of Holy Spirit come as manifestation of Holy Spirit in us as we live out our lives in obedience to His will. The gifts then are the ndistributed to those who seek after them. Come by staying in the Word.

    • Jesus gave fruit the pre-eminence, and without fruit our gifts are meaningless. Matthew 7:20-23 (NKJV) 20 Therefore by their fruit you will know them. 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

    • Wow I really love your anology. thanks alot you know most of us need more explanation to really get the fact .like the Bible talks about without faith it is impossible to please God .so it is with the gift and the fruit.without a seed been sow there won’t be a harvest.

  6. What’s the difference between speaking in tongues in mark 16:17 and diverse of tongues in 1corinthians12

    • The first attention to detail is the source for example tongues. The actual gift explains –
” the Interpretation ” of Tongues. Often when a person prayers in tongues they can’t hear what they saying, meaning – if someone else asked you, explain to me what you prayed, what will you say. Paul talks about this, he says I would rather say 5 intelligent words to instruct others. If you understand what someone is praying tongues or what the Lord is communicating to you, meaning you hear Him. It’s like someone speaks to you in one language that other people around you don’t understand. But the Lord gives this understanding for you – you can’t do it yourself.

    • When I think about gifts of the Spirit I think about Jesus, when I think about fruits of the Spirit I think about Jesus. Everybody is going to enter the same gate, and Jesus says in the Bible I am the gate. Everyone enters into mercy and grace the same way and Jesus says ” I am the way. ” Everyone repents but we don’t arrive saying that we deserve forgiveness because we ask for forgiveness. The way it’s written is like this – fruits of the Spirit, gifts of the Spirit. Spirit starting with capital letter. The Bible teach us that no one can work for what Jesus already paid for and the gifts impart to each as He will is from God. Paul says desire gifts of the Spirit. The first time everyone around me spoke in tongues, except me, I didn’t know what I should do, my Pastor said to me, just praise the Lord. Say all the thing’s you haven’t every said to the Lord Jesus about how special He is, how important He is to you. But most important of all believe Jesus raised to life, its the key ingredient. The rest Jesus can teach you.

  7. Excellent job on this piece about the gift of tongues. Seldom do I hear anyone give such a well balanced approach to this gift. It is a pity that most people will not get a chance to read it. Publish it somewhere else, as well. Maybe You-tube.

  8. seek the Lord with a sincere heart and desire for his spirit to indwell you .
NB having only the gift without the fruit is very dangerous. have both and live a righteous life.

  9. God told us in 1corinthians 12 that the Holy Spirit distribute the gifts to each one as he determines. To one healing to another faith, to another speaking in tongues…. He never point to a particular gift as the one that that must be fanifested by his children, we are the ones expecting all believers to be able to speak in tongues, in verse ,30 of that chapter he ask Do all have gift of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? . Now when referring to all in verse 13 He say For we are ALL BAPTIZED BY ONE SPIRIT as to form one body, we can see that speaking in tongues is not the evidence of been baptized in the Holy Spirit. We are not forbidden to seek the gift of speaking in tongues we cannot overemphasise the importance in the edification of a believer 1 Corinthians 14:2,4 , keep on asking in faith if He can give it to you if He will

  10. In 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, It’s one Holy spirit but 9 manifestation of the Spirit for for the profit of all.

While in Galatians 5:22-23. It’s one fruit but 9 flavors, namely Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Every believers who are influence by the Holy Spirit will have 9 possible flavors, some flavor are more prominent than the others. However, If you are not influence or “filled” with the Holy Spirit. You have only your own human manifestation.

By the way, who can baptized us with the Holy Spirit. According to John the Baptist, It’s Jesus Christ himself. In Matthew 3:11 John the Baptist testified “But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

So gather If you wanted to be baptized with the Holy spirit, gather 2 or 3 believers of Jesus Christ and pray to Jesus Christ to validate testimony of John the Baptist to baptize you with the Holy Spirit. If testimony of John the baptist is credible, Jesus Christ will confirm his preaching and the Holy Spirit will comes as promised. So try it.

  11. Recently, I was talking to someone who didn’t believe in praying “in tongues” within a regular church service, unless there is a translator present! What do people think about this? Surely, you can’t plan that kind of thing?

    • There is2 kinds of tongues, one is your own personal prayer language that you pray to God. The other is for the edifing of the body or church of Christ which needs to be interpreted in church

      • Speaking in tongues is not gibberish and unintelligible. It is a true foreign language that the one speaking it does not naturally speak. That is how it was on Pentecost. There must also be a person who is gifted the gift of interpretation of tongues who can tell everyone what the speaker is saying even though it is not his/her native tongue.

That being said, The Apostolic gifts went out before the Apostles were even out of the picture. Those gifts being: Tongues, interpreting of tongues, healing and prophecy. Watch Justin Peters on Youtube, he explains it very well; along with the scripture.

    • It may be that 1 Corinthians 14:28 is saying that it should be the same person, not someone else, who interprets that which he spoke in tongues. I think that makes more sense in terms of edifying the body. What if a particular fellowship only had one person who believed to interpret and he was sick, unable to attend the service. Seems that would put God out of business until that person got better.

      • Everyone has the ability to interpret. The Lord will use the individual who is open and understands what is given to him/her to share. Always to edify the Body of Christ.

      • Put God out of business? Really? No fellowship has that kind of power. There is not a need for tongues today because all of the world knows the Gospel in all the known languages. The Apostles were speaking foreign languages because there were people in their midst who did not know the Gospel and could not understand the Greek language.

    • A translator is needed to interpret what is being spoken. Before anyone speaks in tongues ppl have to agree, I think 3. Then if an interpreter is present and agrees to interpet, and three agree; only then a person can speak in tongues among others. It’s just like someone not fluent in speaking english or spanish, or fully understand the language or laws a person that speaks the language is used and an interpedtor is given to speak what the other person is saying in the language being spoken. It is a law of God to have these things in place so we know what is being spoken not to be in confusion of any tricks of evil.

  12. I remember always praying to God for me to speak in tongues but didn’t come through….it only happend to me a few months.I can pray in tongues and sing in tongues but do not know how to interpret them….I am not sure if the words that come out of my mouth after tongues usually comes in the language I can understand in the interpretation or maybe my own thoughts from my mind….I need advise

    • I have only one personal experience of translation, and it came during a regular church meeting. I felt God prompting me to offer a word, WHILE somone else was giving a tongue. The leader asked if anyone had a translation for the tongue, so up I went! To this day, I have no idea if what I shared was an “exact translation” of the tongue that had been shared, but if you’re in tune with God, he gives you the words to say.

      • God said that if we did not praise him he would let the rock cry out. Why would you not believe that God could not interpret though another? It is our willingness for God to use is that would allow him to use us.

    • Treading deep waters there. Please be careful. There is no need for tongues today therefore no need for interpreting of tongues. Be watchful of who is actually answering your prayers. God bless.

      • -Denise, if there is no need for tongues today, then how do you explain someone that speaks in tongues, such as myself, in which I received at my house, not at a church service, and not someone laying their hands on me?

  13. God can do anything through you. Ask yourself, “Why am I seeking gifts?” The Bible clearly says they are to “profit all.” Christianity is about glorifying Christ not us. What should be revered and shared more, gifts or His Word? If the practice of gifts does not fulfill the commandment of Acts 1:8 (the purpose of the church) then it is not scriptural. If you say prophesying (direct revelation from God) is being given, then you are saying the Word is incomplete.

Please read the Bible as a whole and do not isolate verses. Learn who God is and how He wants us to live. The Bible is the revelation of God and is intended for us to know Him. Walk with Him and know Him and let His Spirit live in you and quit stressing about manifestations. He will work in you as He sees fit to profit His Kingdom.

    Praying for you all

  14. Kindly note answers has got to be based on what the word teaches.1st Cor 12 has so much to teach on these gifts. It tells us in verse 11 that its the Spirit that gives to every one as He wills, also to ONE is given … to Another is given…. this is shared as God sees fit and he will see fit based on ones desire and hunger also. Paul also went on to ask in vs 29-30 are all Apostles? Have all the gifts of healing, do all speak in tongues ect so not every one will have all the gifts if God chooses to share them up. In verse 31 he concludes ” covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show i unto you a more excellent way:- This more excellent way is :- LOVE. God bless you all

    • I was taught that we receive ALL THE GIFTS. GOD gives us the discernment when and where to use a specific one according to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

      • The Scripture would beg to differ. In 1st Corinthians 12, Paul simply and lovingly states that not everyone receives the same gifts. By the way, discernment is in fact the only gift that that we are mandated to use.

  15. I never knew what it meant when it happened to my daughter..Im calling my book Hell is also for real, but the more I study, what happened to her was a gift of prophecy and not the mark of the beast…

  16. well said but I believe peter was the greatest of all the apostles because he was given the mandate by Jesus christ

    • This is an interesting point, Peter would agree with you. He did so when he was alive. until Jesus set him straight anyway. Peter was on a separate mission. He was the Apostle to the Jews. In the Church Age, Paul is our Apostle who wrote nearly one half of the New Testament depending on who you think wrote the book of Hebrews.

  17. What is the clear differences between words of prophecy and words of knowledge?

    • Prophecy is a direct message from God through a multitude of ways.

    • Word of knowledge is a Divine revelation of the past and some times present. While prophecy is an inspired utterance from The Holy Spirit.

    • I believe words of prophecy is the ability to predict the future and words of knowledge are just that. Being able to concisely explain a given subject.

  18. Dear Victor

Please, don’t think that it’s everybody who speaks absurd/ strange words in the church are actually under the influence of the holy spirit. Speaking in tongue is not something u can learn, study or acquire. It’s something u do under the control or influence of the holy spirit .

    • I greet you victor in the most holy spirit, please brother, I want you to know that one thing our Lord Jesus Christ hates so much is
      (1) abusing the gift of the holy spirit: i.e miss using, for a selfish gain, proud and parading showing to others that you now have the gift of the holy spirit….. Is wrong.
      (2) envy: being envious about others achievements, others have it and you don’t. is wrong, envy is a killer of one’s spiritual approach… If I may ask, what is your focus?
Looking unto Jesus Christ the author and the finishers of our most holy faith…
What is your relationship with Christ, and your personality in him…
What is your level of right standing with him.
And what is your mind set towards the gift of the holy spirit you are desiring. Romans12v1-2.
The Bible says in John 8v32
You shall know the truth and it make you free.
What is that truth you think you know about Christ.
The beginning of your knowing, is the beginning of the impartation of the gift of the holy spirit in your life.
Don’t do it on your own self, but let be the to activate in you… John 14v16-17, 26 15v26, 16v7 this verses will help you…

    • Amen…well said! Too much this and that and losing focus of what’s important and priority and that’s Jesus Christ, Father, Son, Holy Spirit…His word…not ours…nothing added…nothing taken away! 99% of what is claimed as speaking in tongues is nothing more than well rehearsed, repetitive babble, same ole, same ole, and thus the foolishness of man’s teaching of God’s word.
We should heed Gods word when Paul emphasizes the need for interpretation, for which I have never once heard anyone capable, as well as speaking a language everyone can understand; imagine, a mere man teaching to speak in tongues as though he were on equal terms with The Holy Spirit himself…such typical flesh in action foolishness!

  19. All along l’ve been praying/fasting for the gift of speaking in tongues but have not received it. In a bible college class, l’m the only one left out. No gift! As a pastor, l feel odd, teaching/giving what l’ve not received. Please help me. Victor C. O.

    • Bless your heart Victor first we must be born again then called to our calling by GOD and not by an idea from ourselves or from someone other than GOD HIMSELF then we seek GOD for the baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT then seek GOD for whatever gift that you desire like “tongues” etc that’s the order sir

    • Dear Victor
In the 12 Faith Confessions it says “I have no insecurities, because I see myself the way that God sees me” Often we desire things for ourselves and lookawayfrom what God wants us to see. Pray that you recieve this gift, but ask for it, for the right reason.

      Xander

    • Repeat “hallelujah” many times quickly. Let you tongue roll. It will come. Mark 16:17 Jesus promises it to all believers.

    • I know that until you give up and let God take control it does not come. I learn that after seeking for God’s to give me the gift of tongues it seemed like it was not going to be. I remember saying God that is all I can do in others word I have my whole being to his will. At the moment I being to speak in a heavenly language.

    • As a woman, I will not leave my place. I will say this though, the gift you are seeking is an Apostolic gift which is no more in use. It is the same as healing and prophecy. There is no need for them today. Do not listen to those who tell you that you don’t have the faith or are not really saved. Tongues are not around today. Gibberish is. God is the God of order not confusion. God bless you Pastor.

  20. Is it possible for an individual to possess the nine gift of the holy spirit?
    If yes, give an instance.

    • Yes.. many Christians speak in tongues and prophecy. ..those are already two gifts
It goes to show that it is possible, but only through prayer , fasting and a life dedicated entirely to Christ

    • He gives to each one, as He chooses. And will He not give good gifts to His children when they ask? If your heart is set to help/love others, your motive is right, “and it will be given to you”, you also need to ask in faith that God wants, delights, to help/love others through you. So don’t worry or fret, do not fear, but walk in the confidence that Hod will equip you on the spot for every good work. Intentionally put yourself in places where God can hook you up with people. Just say “hi”, with the smile of God’s look of Love and Favor on your face and in your eye, and tell them what you see in them. For God WILL give you wonderful words of Life to speak. You may stumble at first, DON’T give up, bu God’s good grace you will learn to ride that Horse like you’re a natural. Love you sweetheart! Now go git’m!

  21. I am so happy when I read this article. I used to pray for the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit but sometimes I felt that I am being greedy, but after reading this article I learnt that It’s not a sin to pray for all the gifts. I thank God for giving me his gift of healing and speaking in tongues and I am still praying for all other gifts, especially the gifts of prophecy.

  22. fruit is related to the character He builds in you – Christ’s – but to say the gifts are not as important shows a certain snobbishness. The body of believers today is largely impotent, not having much impact on society which is going to hell in a handbasket ( the early believers turned the world upside down), and basically not run much different from any other corporation. They seem to think they can fight spiritual warfare vs the powers of darkness, with man conceived / made weapons when Paul himself said spiritual weapons are required. Who negates the value of a word of knowledge, word of wisdom, gift of “extra faith” to achieve something at a given time, or how has the lack of discerning of spirits aided the devil in his machinations?

  23. I have asked for the gifts of the Spirit to manifest in me as well as the fruits of the Spirit. I spoke in tongues once while i was sleeping/dreaming but I havent spoken since. I dont understand that. I feel left out when i go to church sometimes and hear others speak in tongues or do their heavenly dance (shout). I do feel the presence of God and mostly i just cry, but I want more! Ive asked God several times to go higher in Him. Please pray for me.

    • Keep asking, keep seeking Him and at the appointed time you will receive! Never give up, He will come!

    • Sister Kristal,

Reflect over each part of the Word: who ALL danced, shouted and spoke in tongues? Certainly only a few . To be Spirit-indwelled Christian is to know who we are , who/what we are NOT, and to trust in God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. We are to believe, trust, and follow Him as He sees fit which will always be His purpose (s). He never abandons us but is not always putting us into service. He provides rest and preparation time, purifying us as we grow in knowledge of Him.

It is not about our performance, or worship but is about our most personal relationship with the Trinity /Triune God working in and/or through us temporarily , and/or permanently as He sees fit, for His purpose (s) as we allow and seek it.

Only He can read the intentions of the heart and mind, telling us to “Go about the renewal of your mind”…thinking about His Word and will for each of us.

Because He is The Creator, we can know we cannot create ourselves, therefore are His Creation, His servants, His “Children”, and that He loves us more than anyone can.

We can INVITE HIM INTO OUR HEART, MIND AND BODY. We are indwelled by the Holy Spirit who knows us better than we know ourselves, will manifest as we YIELD and not try to “be ” what we want or think He is.

He alone reads the intentions and mind of everyone at all times because He is the all knowing, all powerful, everywhere or anywhere He needs or wants to be…ONLY loving/ living/ Creator God.

Trust Him to know when you are ready, yielded, prepared to receive, and have accepted His will and purpose for your life, giving up your own will and goals that do not match His.

He will never force Himself onto or into us. He loves us but will not pamper and spoil us. Agape love is the highest and best love we can receive, and only He can give it, has it, and knows how to best express it to a YIELDED, sincere , ready child.

      • Well put and sincere. I say, Let go and Let God! When we ask for More of Jesus, be expecting purification and santification by His Spirit. It’s a Holy transformation. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord” It is the New man. Putting away the Old and walking in the New. By the Spirit, with His Spirit, In His Spirit. Daily! The word says, “Seek Me and I will be found” Seek Him! Jesus!

    • Krystal, praying in tongues is a gift already given to you. When you pay in tongues, the Bibles tells us that it when we release our most hot and perfect prayer to the Father. In that time we are yielding our tongue to the spirit to pray the prayers that we are missing or aren’t aware of. Although it if a gift, you must practice and work that gift. When you are praying in your native language begin to allow the Holy Spirit to take over. It may sound funny at first but God will do the rest.

    • Ask in Jesus name, but not to praise yourself as to having the ability to do so, but to have within you to use the gifts to aid others. Your faith has to be very strong in God and of Jesus to aquire all all gifts and fruits. And with any aquired we are to boast not on ourselves but of God’s power. God allowed me to aquire all gifts, I’m thankful to show God working within and through me, but these gifts are not always to be revealed at least not when we want certain ones to. I have only spoken in tongue once, that I can remember and interped once or more as well. But it comes at a time when God wants to use us. Be hopeful, don’t doubt; your time will come.

  24. We (Christians are been baptized with the Holy Spirit to attain these spiritual gifts in order to wage spiritual combat against the Dark Kingdom. Therefore desire them and use them. Romans 16:20.

  25. That is a very significant ‘s’ and you are correct. Unlike the gifts we expected to receive ALL the manifestations of THE fruit.
