The Gift of Faith

Last updated on:

This next gift, the gift of faith, is something that comes directly from the Holy Spirit.

The Bible tells us that we all have a certain measure of faith that has already been given to us by the Lord. God has to give each person a certain measure of faith or we would not be able to get saved, as the Bible tells us that we are saved by “faith” through grace.

And then over the course of our walks with the Lord, our faith will continue to grow to higher levels as we continue to draw closer to the Lord in our own personal relationship with Him and increase our knowledge levels about Him through the study of Scripture.

However, there will be times that our own levels of faith in the Lord will not be enough to get the job done with what He may be asking us to do for Him. Here is an example:

Say God has been manifesting the gift of healing through you from time to time to heal a few minor ailments or illnesses on a few people.

Your confidence and faith levels are then starting to build up because God is now starting to use you in this manner and you now have had a few good successes on these smaller illnesses.

But then all of a sudden God tells you to walk up to a paraplegic, lay hands on him, and then command him to get out of his wheelchair and start walking.

All of a sudden you can immediately sense in your mind and in your spirit that your own levels of faith are not going to be good enough or high enough to try and do this, as you have never tried to heal someone of something this heavy before.

And this is where the Holy Spirit will now be moving in big time so this miracle can be fully accomplished for the Lord.

The Holy Spirit will then manifest His own divine faith right up into you so you can now believe and operate on that faith – so you will now have the actual courage to walk up to this person, lay hands on him, and then tell him to get out of that wheelchair and start walking.

Sometimes it will take higher levels of faith to pull down a major miracle from the Lord, and where our faith levels will not be high enough or good enough to be able to do this, this is where the direct faith of the Holy Spirit Himself will then move up in us and pick up the slack with our own imperfect faith levels so God can then manifest the miracle that He will be looking to do through us.

Sometimes God may ask you to do something that will be out of your comfort zone. Fear and panic will immediately set in because you have never done what He is now asking you to do.

If and when this should ever happen to you, just ask the Holy Spirit to manifest His faith, courage, and boldness up in you so you will have His faith, strength, and courage to do what God is asking you to do for Him.

This particular gift could be a lifesaver, depending on what God may be asking you to do for Him. If God is asking you to go into a burning building to rescue a child, there will be a very good chance that the Holy Spirit will immediately manifest His faith and courage right up in you so you can take on this dangerous assignment.

Firemen, policemen, and our military especially need this particular gift to help them do heroic acts, as many of them could easily let fear and panic set in on them, which would then keep them from being able to perform a major rescue operation.

Again, there are just a wide variety of situations and circumstances where you will need this gift to be manifested up in you by the Holy Spirit. That is why the Holy Spirit is called the Helper in the Bible, so He can help you with a lot of different areas in your daily life where you will have trouble in dealing with.

  1. Thank you just for the words you just said. He didn’t bring me this far to leave me. I always wonder why things happens the way that it do in my life. It now that I discovered that God has really been trying to get my attention and I have been ignoring because I’m afraid. I am now unemployed because of something stupid that the company’s rule state that if this happens it’s an automatic termination instead of looking at the corporate level employees. But God!!! He shall supply ALL of my needs according to HIS riches and glory

The gift of faith is very different from the saving faith(Eph 2:8-9).It is also different from the faith we have in our normal supernatural life in christ (Romans12:3)The gift of faith is an unction that is given to particular believers as the Holy Spirit wills(Gal5:22-23).This ability is given in the same way all the other gifts of The Holy Spirit are given. This unction enables the bearer to perform the impossible at particular times as The Spirit deems fit.The gift of faith, like the other spiritual gifts lives in the individual but it is made manifest only as it pleases The Holy Spirit.

  3. I have been searching the internet for biblical accuracy about speaking in tongues.

Yours is the first (and only so far) site that did NOT view this wonderful manifestation of holy spirit with prejudice, contempt and even fear! God Bless you! Thank you for your stand!

I’m looking for information to counter or find out why theologians say this manifestation, or gift as you call it, died with the apostles. I speak in tongues and have for 18 years, so I know its power and reality.

    Thank you again…

  4. “The Bible tells us that we all have a certain measure of faith that has already been given to us by the Lord. God has to give each person a certain measure of faith or we would not be able to get saved.”

Not exactly. Paul tells the Romans that everyone *in the church* was given a measure of faith. Everything else in that passage (Romans 12) refers to only the church. He even starts the passage with “Therefore I urge you, *brethren*”

If God gives everyone faith, with Jesus being the beginner and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), you would have to say that Jesus failed in his job for some people. But Paul reminds us of this, (Philippians 1:6) that he who began a good work in you will perfect it, or bring it to completion. Paul also tells the Thessalonians (2 Thes 3:2) that not all have faith.

Not everyone is given faith. Salvation does not come by faith we conjure up within ourselves, but justification comes by faith that is granted to us by God (Philippians 1:29, Ephesians 2:8-9 faith is a gift of God, 1 John 5:1).

  5. LORD God please give me the biggest gifts of wisdom knowledge and faith their is in Jesus name amen

    • God gave every one a spiritual gift or more. You have to find out what those are. It may not be the gift of faith or gift of wisdom. However, He did give us all believers a measure of faith and thanks to His word and wisdom we can have access to His wisdom.

  6. I am out of faith at this point. There are times when I feel God’s presence but now that problems are flooding in, I dont feel God at all.

    • Responding to Marianne…Please remember He will never leave you or forsake you! Even when you’re out of faith…He still carries you. We walk not by our feelings. It’s a battle, but we are told to “set our mind” on His truth…it’s an act of your will. His grace enables, His Grace is the power that works in you! It’s ok to allow His strength to shine through your weakness! ALL for His glory.

    • Marianne, problems and challenges are part of life as a follower of Christ. Remember God promise us he will not allow us into more problems than we can take. For his glory and name to be praise we much face challenge to grow our faith.Keep your eyes on what Christ has done before and still doing in our life’s

      • George that is a common misconception, the verse says he will not tempt us beyond our ability to bear ( or beyond the common temptations of man) and he will provide us a way to resist or escape it . He gives us way more that we can handle; Alone. So we need him to get us through all of it, or we won’t make it.

        • God does not give to man that which is meant to diminish or minimize him to the bible says that the thoughts He has for us are that of good and not evil, to give us a hopr and a future. However the devil will bring to man that which is a million times bigger than him. That which is impossible for mam to handle. Out faith in God is what brings us out of the captivity the devil is trying to place on us. God is NO author of disaster.

    • Marianne, I know that same feeling… I look at how many hopes have been deferred in my life, how many people have abandoned me, and most of all….how many times I have come short in my walk with the Lord….. A couple things that reel me back in are this…. I recount the victories that God has done in my life. (The previous battles, trials, tests)… and then I look at the heroes of faith and what they went through. Moses is a great example of this… 40 years of God preparing him in the desert before He calls him to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. 40 years! Could you imagine the pains and moldings God put him through. There is a greater glory sister, hold fast!

      • Amen… I came across this by accident and this truly blessed my soul. God bless you my brother in Christ.

    • Feeling is carnal nature. It is written, “I’ll never leave you, nor forsake you!” He is with you. Don’t go by our five sense’s. Go by God’s Word!! Amen!
I be been there, done that, and sometimes I still have to reject the carnal thoughts, and get back to God’s promises. Be anxious for nothing!! Be Blessed!!

    • God is always there. Sometimes our faith can be tested. Your wilderness wouldn’t last forever. Have faith in Christ Jesus.

    • MARIANNE pls dont give up he is still there with you dont listen to the devil you are not the first person i was once his victim, remember job was also in such, when he say i whent front he wasnont there i when backward but he wasnont there but i no that he see me every were i want, also remeber that the bible say count it all joy when we face different temptation .also say blessed is man that enduer temptation for when his trail he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to them that love. James 1;2,12

    • We don’t feel God but we are his children we live in him and christ in God feeling deals with the body while God deals with the heart we are spiritual not physical

    • At one point in my life I felt the same way Marianne, and what that Holy Spirit reminded me is that I had to change how I felt into knowing that His presence is with me where ever Iam no matter the problems or how messy life may look continue to believe, know, and trust that when you call on Him His presence is with you. when problems start to flood in praise and worship Him even more. The enemy job is to put doubt in our minds. God made us a promise He will never leave us nor forsake us. Stand strong! God bless you!

  7. the bible does not say we are saved by faith we are saved by grace thru faith we cannot add to or take away .

  8. Faith is a wonderful thing and sometimes we lose it when we’re going through tough situations. My faith has brought me back to the beginning of my walk and many days instead of crying I have to tell myself that He hasn’t’ brought me this far to leave me.

    • Good to know. Praise God for this. However, the gift of faith transcends our daily normal expression of faith in the God we serve. It is a portion of Christ’s own faith graciously given to the believer to perform a specific task, whatever it may be, which our normal faith will not come in handy to do. It is always distinguishably supernatural. Thanks.

    • I hope this message comes at the perfect time. God said: My plans is to prosper you. This word prosper means ” success in everything ” and to give you good gifts. The word ” good ” signifies God’s standard. As God is above all standards which we can describe in many many ways, we have to remember that the only standard that matters is His above our own. This means our term of excellent doesn’t supercede His.
