Worship Wells

Most people look & yearn for the worship experience, to have an experience that will always be place of reference for them.

Genesis 29:1-3 (KJV)
Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east. [2] And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well’s mouth. [3] And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well’s mouth in his place.

The Scripture talks of a well were flocks of sheep came to be watered. The shepherds would role away the great stone that was at the opening of the well so tht the sheep could be able to drink and then also close the well afterwards.

In some areas of our life we are shepherds and ther are flocks which wait to be watered by us. As worshippers the congregation wants to be watered by us. We are the ones who have the mandate to roll away great stones from peoples lives and usher them into a place of refreshment.

One thing to notice was that the sheep came to the well for water and when they didn’t get water they just milled around the well… Typical of the world today and the church, we have thirsty people walking into our meetings and us as worship leaders we have been grace to open the water of life to flow.

How to be a good stone roller

1. Pray

Specifically that you don’t stay in the way of the move of God, that’s as worshipers we don’t become the glue that holds the stone to the wall but you be a vessel to be used as He wills and be used to roll the stone away allowing the people of Christ and

Also that we be able to hear from God not just as a leader

2. Holy Spirit Move

So many times we don’t realise that living our lives in a place where the Holy Spirit is a constant help, guide and teacher is an awesome place, He already knows the place where everyone is and know which wells need to be opened.

3. Song List / Setlist

Such an revelation shows you that feel good songs are out of the question when someone is thirsty. Choosing songs that direct people to his throne. Choosing songs that direct their gaze to the thirst quencher

There is more to worship than just singing songs, rocking back and forth, meditation or playing music. Worship is so intertwined yet so simple at the same time.

I’m just reminded that we are other peoples breakthrough in life. Sometimes we are reluctant to obey God through action, thought & life knowing, we need to know that the key to other peoples blessing, refill or refreshment is within us and all we have to do is roll the stone from the mouth of the well.

As Worshippers we grow an ability to hear and sense the directing of God, being a Worshipper gets you that inclination or let’s say you have your own way of knowing the leading of God. In that place we grow into error in that we think the set authority doesn’t know when and how to handle the move if God.

There is so much that happens during, between and our worship services these will make you think twice about your role as a Worshipper. We get entangled in politics, frustrations, problems and differences and issues will weigh us down and will affect our ability to roll thee stone from the well of water

In the process we forget that it’s about the people (sheep) and the reason God anointed us was to overcome all these and make sure that in the midst of it His People get to connect with Him.

I also got the important things that we saw in this scripture is Submission. Submission to spiritual authority, our shepherds (pastors, apostles, teachers, teachers, prophets) they are like those shepherds, who had the ability to bring a drink to the thirsty sheep.

The Holy Spirit is all about unity and where there is harmony in a team and also alignment not just physical but also spiritual harmony.

Just like Psalm 133 says oil from top to bottom and as Worshippers whatever frustrations, fears, politics and issues we have with our teams, band, leadership may we learn to set them aside and roll the stone for the people to drink of the Lord.

Not just our set man or woman of God but also the band director, worship leader it head of the creative department and in some churches Worship Deacons, they also hold an ability and an authority to release such stones from the mouth of the well over our lives and over the people.

May God grant us grace to be able to deal with such issues and be able to always make worship about the people, not the music, the band, the crew, the leadership or the ministry but people and God.
