The Bible was written as a mirror to us, to show us who we truly are and who we are when no one in watching. It’s the same place that God speaks to us from and shows us what he will do.
A couple of day ago I bumped into this scripture and it brought me to a place of reflection and started gauging where I’m and who I was.
Matthew 13:15 (KJV)
“For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed”
And while that was in my mind I started thinking of of this 1 Timothy 4:2 (KJV) which says “Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron”
The conditions mentioned here are:
- Ears are dull
- Hearts are waxed
- Eyes are closed
- Conscience seared with hot iron
As an individual where do I qualify, which one of the four do I stand in?
Are my ears dull of hearing, are my eyes closed, is my conscience pressed under a hot iron?
These are not easy questions to ask self. God is not looking for the perfect people, he is looking to us all even with our ears dull from hearing, hearts waxed with sin, eyes closed and the world has filled our mind with the wrong things. These are the kind of people whom God wants to connect with.
As people in the frontline ministry as musicians, singers and worship leaders you can see some of these things in a assembly of believers, you can see some people with these conditions. Before we can point fingers let’s ask ourselves where we stand with God in this respect.
Think about it, when was the last time you had a whisper from God, when was the last time you saw the hand of God in your own life? Where does your heart stand in regards with the move of God and what He is doing in this season?
Personally I would like to have my conscience seared with Christ, my ears clean hearing the word of God, my eyes closed to the things of this world and always seeing Christ in every way and my heart wrapped by the love of God what will you ask for from The Lord.
Think through it and see where you stand and may God help you deal with it before we are beyond repair. This is article not for other people, it’s an article for you personally to think about where you stand.
May the condition of our lives be not like the people referred to in these two scriptures and that we guard our lives from all that and live for the glory of God.
