The word tells us that we must strengthen our inner man, to fan into flames the Spirit of the Lord within us. Exercising our faith by stepping out in faith, growing closer to God by studying and knowing His Word and proclaming Jesus to those around us will make you strong in the Lord. Isaiah 55:2 Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, Listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul wil delight in the richest of fare".
The Word is our substance, our life. Jesus is the Word. John 6:48-51 "I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. vs 53 "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I remain in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. YOur forefathers ate manna and died but he who feeds on this brad will live forever. See John 6:33-35, Flesh means in original language, Jesus himself is the principal of life and nutrition to the regenerated soul. At least that is one meaning. Something to think about when you fast, you are to eat of Jesus and drink of Him as he provides living water that you will never thirst again!
