The Powerful Book Of Jude!
January 1, 2009 by Tina
Today blog is about the book of Jude. This is a very short book but power packed with treasure beyond. If we take the bible seriously then this is a book that really needs to be studied over and over to the point that it is engrained in our minds. We seriously need to put into action the Word of God to be effective in our lives as well as the lives of others!
I am reading this book called Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado. This is a wonderful book! I encourage all to read this. There is this statement on the back of the book that is profound and so true.. I keep this in thought as I walk out this Christian life. “Focus on Giants-You Stumble. Focus on God- Your Giants Tumble!” WE ALL need to keep this in mind! We can get so caught up in the cares of this world that we allow the giants in our lives to rule our hearts and minds therefore our lives… But Christ overcame the world didn’t He? So if He lives in us then we are overcomers! We need to start being more like David instead of the Goliaths of this life running ours!
Now let’s get into the blog…. and the book of Jude. I was reading the front page of the Book and I will just list what it says… so often times we skim these pages and just read the Word but this page gives an excellent breakdown of this book and what it means….
To protect from harm, to guard from attack, to repulse enemies, for centuries rugged defenders have built walls, launched missiles, and waged wars, expending material and human resources in the battle to save nations and cities. And with total commitment and courageous abandon, individuals have fought for their families. It is a rule of life that we fight for survival, defending with all our strength what is most precious to us, from every real or imagined attack. God’s Word and the gift of eternal life have infinite value and have been entrusted to Christ’s faithful followers. Many people live in opposition to God and His followers. They twist God’s Words, seeking to deceive and destroy the unwary. But God’s truth must go forth, carried and defended by those who have committed their lives to His Son. It is an important task, and awesome responsibility, and a profound privilege to have this commission.
This was Jude’s message to Christians everywhere. Opposition would come and godless teachers would arise, but Christians should “defend the faith” Jude (1-3) by rejecting all falsehood and immorality Jude (1: 4-19) remembering God’s mighty acts of rescue and punishment Jude (1:5-11, 14-16) and the warnings of the apostles Jude (1: 17-19). His readers are to build up their own faith through prayer Jude (1:20). Keeping close to Christ Jude (1:21) Helping others Jude (1:22,23) and hating sin Jude (1:23). Then Jude concludes with a glorious benediction of praise to God Jude (1:24,25).
How much do you value God’s Word, the fellowship of the church , and obedience to Jesus Christ? Many false teachers are waiting to destroy your Christ-centered life, the credibility of God’s Word, and the unity of the body of Christ.
The above was the introduction to the book of Jude. When I read this it hit me really hard as I have been pondering on the division and strife in the body of Christ. Upon prayer, the insight was truly amazing.
Questions to consider…..At what point do we cross the line when defending our faith as to offend our own brethren? At what point do we stand in place of the Holy Spirit to direct the lives of our fellow brethren? At what cost do we sow strife among the body of Christ to suit our own desires….or what we presume to be correct? Does not the bible state that WE the body of Christ are to build up our OWN FAITH THROUGH PRAYER? To Be led by the Holy Spirit in ALL THINGS?
Don’t get me wrong, their are religions out there that are not the True Gospel of Jesus Christ and what He alone came to do, Rather I am talking about the many different denominations out there that do believe in the basics of Salvation through Jesus Christ being the only way to the Father…..Why do we have so many different denominations? Why the Strife? Why the Discord? Feel free to leave your opinion…Stay tuned for part 2 of this study… and revelation.
Be Blessed!
