As an elite amateur athlete, I recognize the importance of showing Christ through my life. We are all called to be the Light of the world and to reflect God’s glory, no matter if we’re playing pro sports or mucking out horse stalls!

The Holy Spirit has quieted my spirit on this matter. God’s word speaks for itself!

90+ Ministries is a christian charity that aims to see lives transformed through knowing Jesus Christ. We use sport as a tool to share the gospel, we resource the local church to use sports ministry as a way to outreach to their communities. We also aim to disciple and equip christian sports men and women to be able to use their gifts and talents to glorify God and use them to reach out to their teammates in their clubs and colleges. We do this by running a full time summer training academy. We are aware the many players in the US play PDL during the summer, however we have proven to provide a much higher level of training and standard of play for those attending our programme.

For the Summer months June – July we run an 8 week academy. We seek to train and equip players to combine their love of football and love for Christ; sharing the ‘Good News’ of Jesus Christ in sport and through the church. We train and equip the players on and off the field. On the field we look for players who believe they can take the next step from a from high amateur level to semi-pro; from semi-pro to professional level, from college to pro teams. We have qualified academy coaching staff who provide an excellent programme to enable them to progress and develop as a player. We deliver a programme of strength conditioning, functional training and speed and agility training.

Off the field we provide relevant, sound biblical teaching. This will be combined with the experience of serving with a church within a community. We want to equip and empower churches to share the Good News of Jesus through sport. During the Academy the players will be a resource to the local churches in providing many opportunities for outreach.

The aim following the academy is to send these guys back to colleges, as fitter, faster, stronger players for the upcoming season. Post college careers we have a wealth of connections to professional clubs which we will provide which we will provide to those players who wish to step into the professional game. For those praying about a future in christian ministry there will be opportunities to continue to serve within Sports ministry or church ministry following the academy. Academy 2011 was highly successful with a number of players coming from colleges such as Azuza Pacific, Houghton, Liberty, Akron, with many going back and having great seasons with their colleges. In previous years the academy has worked with a number of now MLS and european pros. One recruit in particular in 2011, Vinicius Dantas from Azuza Pacific has now gone on to sign with Molde FK in the Norwegian Premier League.

Well, steve…how about a man whose mother was told to abort him due to a dangerous pregnancy (his mother had malaria and placenta brevia) who grew up home schooled and steeped in scripture by missionaries who raised him to walk in faith…who spends his money and his off season helping the helpless in the philippines…who has openly and publicly professed his faith while facing scorn in a cynical, godless world…who is succeeding where most thought he would fail…who thanks his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in victory and in defeat…would that be the kind of scenario you imagine God using?

Honestly, it is presumptuous of you to imagine that you know God’s mysteries. He uses whom he chooses. His ways are not our ways.

I don’t know if God is using someone like Tim Tebow to advance the kingdom. What I do know is that after Tim wore John 3:16 on his eyeblack in the national championship game in 2008, it was the most searched term on the internet. That can’t be bad.

Professional athletes HAVE to give God credit according to this scripture!

So it is fine for any heathen, pagan, Zeus-worshipper or Greek god mythology – Olympius- worshipper /celebrity to use the public arena/ tax dollars to promote their own beliefs – whether it be Hollywood ‘stars’ promoting Scientology, Yoga, Hinduism, New Age mumbo-jumbo, J’hadism, occultism, etc – but not True Christians?

This is clearly the hostile spirit of the anti-Christ in operation here – as accurately foretold in the Scriptures – would occur in the last days. Just like the enemy used Ancient Rome to persecute the Church – and it grew in power – like wild fire so too – it seems that the enemy is yet again overplaying his hands and will ultimately and unwittingly help to purge the body of Christ of all the dross in preparation for the glorious Bride of Christ to meet her Groom – the KING of Kings and LORD of Lords.

Like Paul, we should be asking the LORD to strengthen us with courage and boldness in the inner man – to boldly defy the enemy’s intimadatory tactics (PC) and declare the Name JESUS IS LORD, Conqueroring King – Judge of the Universe.
